you have to buy plant food with every kind of hydroponic system, the whole point in hydroponics is that it uses a soilless mixture wich gives the plants roots more oxygen it also is a self watering unit which means your plants get the water and nutrients when they need them rather than when you water your plants. growing hydroponically will save you alot of time as well compared to soil grows and personally i find you get much better results when using a hydroponics syetem
