has anyone used aeroponics for growing anything.?

i am a botany student and am wanting any first hand info on using the method. i want to know if anyone has used it to grow bigger or brighter flowers or fruit. i have herd that it grows up to 50% faster than hydroponics. i have used hydroponics and am very happy with the results. i want to do some experiments with hydro and aero. please any first hand use. any web sites with any clubs or good kits or d.i.y. kits. any techniques or grow patterns. Any good plants to try out with the aeroponics. thanks for any useful info
